Sprawność psychofizyczna jeźdźców – The rider’s psychophysical fitness

When training with horses we must start with our own bodies. The riders should work daily, building up and maintaining a healthy and supple body. Although sports like cycling, aerobics, tennis etc. can help to develop efficiency, elastically of joins and the strength of our muscle postures, we can still have problems with a corrected seat.

In my training program I research the muscle tension in every rider. I pay particular attention to the pelvic area which is most important when using the aids. I teach the riders how to stretch the muscles that are most tense and how to strengthen the weakest muscles. Using gym balls I teach the riders to correct seat for every gaits: walking, trotting and cantering. The reins are used to make better contact with the mouth of the horse. My course lasts approximately 7/8 hours. It includes lectures about the rider’s body and exercises to develop a more permeable seat.

What will you achieve?

  • you will increase the suppleness of your body and learn about its limitations on an individual basic
  • you will improve the muscles which control balance and the symmetric application of the aids
  • you will increase the sensory feel which will help analyse and develop your seat without visual control
  • you will discover and learn how to control the rarely considered mental tension which greatly influence freedom of movements
  • you will learn how to assess the anatomy and physiology of other riders and discover how to improve the riding skills of yourself and others who are not making sufficient progress
  • you will learn how to evaluate the symmetry of your body and how to adjust your stretching exercises for improvement
  • you will increase your body awareness resulting in more effective communications with your horse, using your seat rather than your hands
  • increased body awareness also helps towards a longer pain free life
